Name Kristine Kuroiwa
Title Associate Artist
Sign Aquarius, Year of the Dragon
From Her mother is from El Salvador, father is 2nd generation Japanese.  They met in San Francisco in the 70's both going to school for radiology.  I'm a Californian.
Little Years At 5, started tap/jazz and ballet.  Spent her life in sequence, curlers and lots of make-up.  It gave her brother lots of great outfits.  Dance continued until she was about 14.
Middle Years She stopped dance due to getting sick, and that's where acting crept in.  Her mom thought it would break her out of her quiet seriousness – she was wrong about that part.  She spent a summer in San Francisco studying at ACT's Young Conservatory and did ""Eddie Mundo Edmundo", a world premiere.
College Spent a year in Chicago at DePaul University, left and spent a year in LA hanging around East/West Players filling various tech hats.  And then finished performance major at Fordham University NY where she played the title role in Titus Andronicus and wore tight clothing with a cape.
Post-College Spent a summer in Orvieto, Italy with a bunch of actors.  We took a mysterious drive to Pontedera to see Thomas Richards (protégé of Growtoski) and "witness" a piece that is not meant to be a performance piece – because it is not meant to be seen by an audience.
Now Living in various parts of Brooklyn for 9 years. She love this city and wishes she could just wrap her arms around it.  She's been with working with ACTIVE EYE – working with people who she loves and respects and who challenges and inspires her.  And doing roles that asks her to die, be half-dead, or wear costumes that triple her size.  Yeah!!
And.. She has dabbled in:  Aikido, Tai Chi, Yoga.  She's picked up a harmonica. Spends her days going to her brother's blog "dlisted".  If she had it her way she would pick-up and travel at a moment's notice – given her mood for the moment.

"...their collaborative process is crucial to the production, in which the musical and visual elements are as important to the storytelling as the script..." -Cleveland Free Times
